The Indian National Congress has announced its second list of candidates for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections, which will take place on May 10. The list includes 41 seats, and one of these seats has been allocated to the regional outfit, Sarvodaya Karnataka Party.
Out of the total 224 assembly seats, the Congress Party has finalised candidates for 142 seats. The first list, which was released earlier, included candidates for 100 seats. The Congress Party has selected Darshan Puttannaiah of the Sarvodaya Karnataka Party to contest from the Melukote assembly constituency.

The candidates’ listed in the second list was finalized at a meeting of the Central Election Committee, headed by Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge on April 5. The meeting was attended by top Congress leaders from Karnataka, including Rahul Gandhi, former chief minister Siddaramaiah, state chief DK Shivakumar, and All India Congress Committee in-charge for the state, Randeep Surjewala.
The results of the Karnataka Assembly elections will be announced on May 13. The Congress Party, which is the ruling party in the state, will be facing tough competition from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (Secular). The elections are expected to be a crucial test for the Congress Party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
