Speaking in Chikkaballapur the day before, Raksha Ramaiah said, “Dr K Sudhakar contested against me, it doesn’t matter. Even if Sudhakar comes, it is good for us, whoever comes is good. Lost everything in Congress for ten years. Raksha Ramaiah said that there is no doubt about getting everything from now on.”
At the same time, Congress leader M R Seetharam attacked former Chikkaballapur MP Veerappa Moily. He said, “In 2009, I started campaigning as an official candidate. Even though Veerappa Moily came then I lost the ticket. Even in 2014 we supported Moily due to unavoidable reasons.”
MR Seetharam has stated that if the Congress had the chance to give his son, Raksha Ramaiah, Mr Ramaiah would definitely contest elections from the constituency. Raksha Ramaiah, the former Karnataka Youth Congress president, was appointed National General Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) in June 2022.
Chikkaballapur or Chikkaballapura constituency came into existence in 1977 after the reorganisation of Indian states. It covers parts of Chikkaballapura District and Bengaluru Rural District. In 2014, Veerappa Moily contested elections but could not secure the votes required to become the MP. In 2019, he contested elections again. However, he was defeated by BN Bache Gowda of the BJP.
