Louis Vuitton is back in the Indian parliament, courtesy of Shehzad Poonwalla. The national speaker of the Bharatiya Janata Party slammed the Congress president for wearing a Louis Vuitton scarf in the Indian Parliament. The controversial spokesperson also compared the Congress chief’s scarf with the Prime Minister’s ‘sustainable fashion’.
Taste Apna Apna , Message Apna Apna
PM @narendramodi sends a “green message” with his sustainable fashion – blue jacket; enlisting Jan Bhagidari for the cause of sustainable growth & environment

A tale of two seniors in the Parliament today.
One keeps the date with monogrammed style stole from Louis Vuitton, other with blue jacket made out of recycled material from PET bottles.
One a cosy accessory for maximalist style, other carries a message of simplicity.

The comment was in context to Kharge’s speech where he highlighted the relationship between PM Modi and his businessmen friends, talking about their wealth.
“The wealth of one of the closest friends of PM Modi increased by 13 times in 2.5 years. In 2014 it was Rs 50,000 crore while in 2019 it became Rs 1 lakh crore. What magic happened that suddenly, in two years, assets worth Rs 12 lakh crores came. Is it due to favour of friendship?” said Kharge on the floor of the parliament.
Social Media is split in its reaction to this issue. While many have called out the BJP for their unnecessary comments on the wardrobe choices and not the content, others have supported Poonwalla in his claims.

This is not the first time that the BJP has talked about the lifestyle choices of the opposition leader. A few months ago, Poonwalla called out TMC leader Mahua Moitra for hiding her Louis Vuitton bag while a discussion on ‘mehngai’ was underway.
When Congress MP from Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi, started his Bharat Jodo Yatra in September 2022, the BJP supporters targeted him for his expensive t-shirt. Several BJP supporters took screenshots from the internet and stated that the Burberry t-shirt which the leader was sporting cost over Rs. 41,000.
