Shah Rukh Khan’s most awaited movie ‘Pathaan’ dropped its first song ‘Besharam Rang, and the audience are having polarised opinions about the same. The big-budget YRF movie marks the comeback of SRK after a sabbatical of 4 years. A part of their spy universe, the movie is directed by the War fame, Siddhart Anand.
Slated to release on Republic Day, 2023, the production house has kickstarted the promotion of the movie, as they have released a teaser and a song.
The party song shows Deepika in a dance number with Shah Rukh Khan, with his ripped abs, mostly playing the onlooker. The Vishal-Shekhar-composed song is hailed to be the next party anthem by a few, while several others have termed it to be a dud.
#BesharamRang– is an ‘Average’ composition. #ShahRukhKhan’s serious looks spread across the song at regular intervals is the only positive. Choreography is weak, vocals aren’t very clear & the music is extremely outdated. In my opinion, it won’t add any value to #Pathaan.

Amongst several criticisms of the movie, many have called out the male gaze of the camera work, which has seemingly brought the actress in the song, down to a mere object. There has been a lot of discussion around the relevance of item numbers in Indian films, in the last few years. The ‘Item numbers’ usually get the movie numbers on social media and video platforms but add little to the content of the movie.

Besides the moral stand, many have claimed Shah Rukh Khan has a VFX heavy body. People have started to draw comparisons between SRK’s look in Pathaan, and that in Don 2, which was released 11 years ago.

Directed by Siddhart Anand, the movie stars SRK, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham in lead roles. Besides, the movie will also have a cameo from Salman Khan, as his character of ‘Tiger’ is a part of the same universe.

Shah Rukh Khan’s last release ‘Zero’ was a disaster at the box office, as a result of which he took a break that lasted over 4 years. The actor will be having multiple releases in 2023. He will be starring in the next Rajkumar Hirani movie named ‘Dunki’, and Atlee directed ‘Jawaan’.
