“Partly cloudy sky in the morning hours becoming generally cloudy sky towards evening or night with the possibility of rain or thundershowers accompanied with squall,” read a statement from the India Meteorological Department.
The IMD is expecting light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in Bengaluru till Monday. Besides the city, other isolated places, rain, and thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in the state.
Coastal Karnataka and other places in the state are also expected to experience thunderstorms in the next two days.
“We expect the light to moderate rain with thunderstorms on March 17 and 18. There is a 50 to 60 percent probability that there may be light to moderate storms in Bengaluru on these two days,” said A. Prasad, a scientist, at IMD.
There is a trough now. The trough from south interior Karnataka to Konkan now runs from north interior Tamil Nady to Konkan across interior Karnataka and extends up to 1.5 km above the mean sea level. Due to this, some places may witness rainfall and thunderstorms,” Mr. Prasad added.
