A man is seen in a video dragging an old man behind him as he rides his bike down Magadi Road in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The elderly man is seen clutching onto the scooter in the viral video from an undisclosed time period as the rider takes off.
The Incident:
The biker and the car were in an accident. When questioned, the biker attempted to flee while towing the driver of the car down Magadi road, Bengaluru. The man on a scooter was seen dragging the driver for over a kilometre in the incident’s video until a rickshaw driver stopped him. The two-wheeler rider, who has been identified as Sahil, allegedly struck the victim’s Mahindra Bolero from behind before attempting to leave.
The victim said, “He hit my vehicle from behind. He was speaking on the phone. If he had stopped and apologised to me, I would’ve let it go. He tried to flee, so I caught his scooter. This is when he dragged me.” He further added, “I won’t let this go. He has to be punished.”
The victim even said, “He was trying to increase his speed and tried to hit on my hand a couple of times so that I leave the handle. A few motorists tried to stop him, but he rode for almost a kilometer to Hosahalli metro station, Bengaluru.” The victim was shifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The Arrest:
The Govindrajnagar police have taken Sahil into custody. A probe was initiated after his arrest. Sahil denied taking a wrong turn, according to police sources cited by TV9 Kannada.
The source said, “Sahil said that he had hit the car and tried to flee the spot since he was afraid of bystanders thrashing. He had told us that he did not think Muthappa (victim) would continue holding on to the bike even when he was on the move.”
The incident in Bengaluru occurred only a few weeks after a 20-year-old woman named Anjali was pulled for 12 kilometres in Delhi by a car carrying four men.
