The box office volcano that was set to explode this week, with the release of KGF Chapter 2 and Beast, is expected to reset various box office records. Going first is Beast which had a monstrous opening today across the world, wherever Tamil films are released. Initially supposed to be released on April 14 (Tamil New Year), the film’s release was moved a day up, avoiding the direct clash with KGF Chapter 2 on its opening day. This was done to optimize the initial demand.
The much-awaited film of Thalapathy Vijay starrer Beast has finally hit the theatres. The film, which has been the talk of the town ever since its announcement, is receiving a tremendous response from the First Day First Show (FDFS). The screenings have begun worldwide and fans flocked to theatres in large numbers to watch the action film and began celebrations outside theatres to welcome their superstar.

Not just the masses, but even many celebrities such as the Beast team-including Pooja Hegde, Aparna Das, Anirudh Ravichander, and Nelson Dilipkumar also watched the FDFS with the audience. Keerthy Suresh, Priyanka Arul Mohan, and other celebs also watched the movie at midnight in theatres. Pictures of celebs enjoying movies in theaters are currently going viral on social media.
The theatres are filled with huge posters, and lights, and the response from fans while watching the movie is amazing. Thalapathy Vijay’s fans make sure to watch every movie and he has a huge market. Alongside Vijay, the flick also stars Pooja Hegde as the lead actress. Meanwhile, Bjorn Surrao, VTV Ganesh, Aparna Das, and Shine Tom Chacko will also be seen in supporting roles in this movie that people have been looking up to with great expectations. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music, while Manoj Paramahamsa is responsible for the cinematography. R. Nirmal has looked after the film’s edit.
Vijay and Sun Pictures’ previous collaboration, the Diwali 2018 release Sarkar holds the opening day record in Tamil Nadu at Rs. 32.8 crores. Beast is expected to break this record. Backing the expectations are the pre-sales which seem promising. At the time of writing, the movie has sold tickets worth Rs. 17 crores for the opening day in the state of Tamil Nadu alone.

Vijay Had two releases after Sarkar but didn’t break the record because of some ‘external conditions’. After almost four years, a Vijay starrer is releasing in “normal” conditions and the expectations are much beyond a new opening day record.
