The sting operation on the Indian cricket team’s chief selector Chetan Sharma has caused a stir in the Indian cricketing fraternity. The former politician is heard speaking about the relations he shares with several Indian cricketers, Virat and Ganguly’s relationship, selection criteria for the players, and several other pertinent issues.
The late-night revelation by Zee news has opened the room for many different kinds of discussions. While a majority of the cricket fans are demanding quick and strong action against the chief selector, others are still suspicious over the nature of the sting, which gives more gossip than any concrete information.
As reported by several media organisations, the BCCI will soon look into the matter. National selectors, who are bound by contract, are not supposed to talk to the media.
“It will be (BCCI secretary) Jay’s (Shah) call as to what will be Chetan’s future. The question is whether T20 skipper Hardik Pandya or ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma would like to sit with Chetan in a selection meeting knowing that he has let out internal discussions,” a senior BCCI official said.
In the ‘scoop’ provided by the Zee news, Chetan Sharma is heard talking on several issues. He also states that a few players take injections to upgrade their fitness for the match.
There were many hints about the close relations between the selectors and a few Indian players. In an allegedly drunk state, Chetan Sharma is heard saying that Hardik Pandya, Umesh Yadav, and Deepak Hooda visit the chief selector’s house.
I really don't know what to say on the Chetan Sharma 'sting operation'. Too many doubts, too many questions and it just appears very fishy. Ideally BCCI should be coming forward to clear the air, but that won't happen. If they are proactive, then 'sources' will be in play.

I thought sting operations are done to reveal corruption and crimes, not gossip!

Chetan Sharma is heard saying that Virat Kohli lied in the Press conference given on December 15, 2021, after being axed from the captaincy.
Social Media is completely divided on the matter of the sting operation. Certain pertinent questions are being asked but many are also questioning the timing and the purpose of an operation that is more pulpy than content rich.
