Ashneer Grover, BharatPe co-founder, has finally after a long wait spoken on why he is not a part of the second season of Shark Tank India, the Indian adaptation of the global startup reality show. He has been replaced by CarDekho co-founder and CEO Amit Jain as a judge on the new season of the show.
The entrepreneur became popular for his unabashed responses to the ‘pitches’ on the show. He would ask people ‘kya kar raha hai bhai tu?‘ or use terms like ‘doglapan‘, and ‘bilkul bakwaas hai’. His memes became quite popular after he made aggressive remarks on startup entrepreneurs seeking to raise funding. He was the most popular judge on Shark Tank India Season 1.
In an interview with RedFM, the entrepreneur was told about the buzz that the show’s makers could not afford him anymore. “Afford sirf paise se nahi hota, aukaat se hota hai,” he said, seemingly in a joking manner.
Giving out reasons for not joining the Indian adaptation of the global startup reality show, Ashneer jokingly said he has got an offer from Bigg Boss, another hit reality show. But he said he will not join it saying, “Failed people go there, not successful people.”
Grover, who was engaged in a legal battle with the BharatPe board, resigned as its managing director in April. Interestingly, BharatPe co-founder has also penned an ‘autobiography’. The title of the book is Doglapan. According to him, the autobiography is a compilation of his life and struggles.
The other judges in the second edition of Shark Tank India include Anupam Mittal of Shaadi.com, Ghazal Alagh of Mamaearth, Peyush Bansal of Lenskart, Aman Gupta of Boat and Vineeta Singh of Sugar Cosmetics, all of whom were part of Season 1.
