The Ranchi police, on August 31, arrested a senior BJP leader, Seema Patra, allegedly torturing a tribal domestic help. Seema Patra is the wife of an ex-IAS officer and was later suspended from the BJP when the news broke.
Per various reports, a case against Seema Patra was registered at the Agora police station. The Jharkhand police rescued the 29-year-old woman who worked as a domestic help at the residence of an ex-IAS officer on August 22.
The affected woman is undergoing treatment at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). The Jharkhand BJP Chief Deepak Prakash suspended Mrs Patra after a video of the victim went viral while narrating her ordeal. The victim demanded that Mrs Patra be arrested soon. Mrs Patra allegedly kept the victim in her residence as a captive in her posh Ashok Nagar area house.
