A heartwarming story of a man’s love for a wounded Sarus crane has captured the attention of people around the world. Arif, a resident of Mandhka village in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, found the bird injured in a field and decided to take care of it. After nursing the crane back to health, Arif attempted to release the bird into the wild. However, the crane refused to leave Arif’s side and became a part of his family.
Unfortunately, the forest department stepped in and took the bird away, citing that Sarus cranes are the National Bird of the state and cannot be kept as pets. The bird was first taken to Panchi Vihar before being transferred to Kanpur Zoological Park.
After a 15-day quarantine period, Arif was finally able to visit his feathered friend at the zoo. The crane’s happiness was palpable as it flapped its wings in excitement upon seeing Arif. The two friends shared a special bond that had touched the hearts of people worldwide.
The story has sparked a movement, with people and leaders urging the government to reunite the bird and the man. BJP MP Varun Gandhi tweeted his support for the cause, calling for the bird’s freedom.
There is story going around about friendship ❤️ between human and a Crane (Saras) in a town of UP. The Saras should be returned to Arif with official guide line. Why Saras has been sent to a Zoo,which is in my view is Orphanage house for this Saras . Don't snatch Saras from him. pic.twitter.com/WeUhxJT0tr

“The story of Sarus and Arif is special! The happiness of these two friends on seeing each other is telling how pure their love is. This beautiful creature is made to fly in the free sky, not to live in a cage. Give him back his sky, his freedom and his friend,” Varun Gandhi tweeted.
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav also voiced his support for the cause, criticizing the government’s decision to take the bird away from Arif.
“The BJP people do not love the environment of love, whether it is love between man and man or between man and bird. Those who find their happiness by giving sorrow to others can never be happy,” Akhilesh Yadav tweeted.
