The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning and a heavy rainfall alert to the South Eastern Coast of the country. North Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry.
“Deep Depression over Southwest and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal intensified into a Cyclonic Storm “Mandous” pronounced as “Man-Dous” (Cyclone Alert for north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh coasts): Yellow Message,” said IMD in a tweet.
What does the Authority say?
The office had earlier stated that the winds were supposed to move in the west-northwestward direction and form a Cyclonic Storm on 7th December.

“It will continue to move west-northwestwards and cross north Tamilnadu, Puducherry, and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast between Puducherry and Sriharikota with a maximum sustained wind speed of 65.75 kmph gusting to in kmph around early hours of December 10,” said the IMD.

Several regions are likely to get affected by Cyclone Mandous. Besides Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, the adjoining areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema are also expected to experience the hit.
The Precautions
A report by the News Agency stated that the rainfall is likely to reduce after December 10th. However, the South Eastern Coast of the country will be witnessing heavy rainfall until then.

The authorities conducted a review meeting on Wednesday to look into the advance arrangements for relief measures, through video conference. District Secretariat was also a part of the meeting.
A review meeting was held by the Chief Minister of Puducherry N Rangaswamy with the Puducherry Disaster Management Authority. According to the reports by ANI the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been put on a high alert to tackle the situation.
Meanwhile, the fishermen are advised to not continue their activities in the Southeast Bay of Bengal and along the coast of Sri Lanka.
