Why is Oppenheimer the most anticipated film of 2023? Come, Let’s find out…
Oppenheimer is Nolan’s first film after breaking ties with Warner Bros:
Warner Bros. announced it would give its 2021 films simultaneous releases in theatres and on HBO Max due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the film industry in December 2020, Nolan was not happy with this decision, making Tenet to be the last film under the WB banner. It was announced that Nolan will be writing and directing a biopic set during World War II about J. Robert Oppenheimer with Universal Pictures being chosen as the distributor under the terms that the film will not be receiving a digital release within 90-120 days of its theatrical release.
Oppenheimer’s cast:
The lead role of J. Robert Oppenheimer will be played by Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt as Katherine Oppenheimer, Matt Damon as Leslie Groves, Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss, Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock and Benny Safdie is set to play Edward Teller, who is known as the “father of the hydrogen bomb.”
Oppenheimer’s plot is inspired by this award-winning book:
Oppenheimer is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer written by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin. Published in 2006, the 721-page book took Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin 25 years to research and write. Christopher Nolan has credited Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin as the writers of the film.
Nolan’s vision and sheer dedication to the project:
Christopher Nolan is well-known for his adventurous vision for his films and the realistic elements used by him to create a scene without the use of CGI. Most of you would have seen the visuals from Interstellar, Inception, lately Tenet, etc. And Nolan’s vision for Oppenheimer recently made it to the headlines, where we saw him create a nuclear explosion without using CGI. Nolan stated in an interview: “It’s one of the most challenging projects I’ve ever taken on in terms of the scale of it and in terms of encountering the breadth of Oppenheimer’s story. There were big, logistical challenges, big practical challenges. But I had an extraordinary crew, and they really stepped up. It will be a while before we’re finished. But certainly, as I watch the results come in, and as I’m putting the film together, I’m thrilled with what my team has been able to achieve.”
The film is set to release in theatres on July 21, 2023. The hype around the film is growing and growing and it keeps cinema lovers in check to anticipate a thrilling experience. You can watch the trailer of Oppenheimer by clicking on this link:
