A 54-year-old man named Lloyd Nehemiah was allegedly beaten to death by three techies after he objected to their loud music in the Vignan Nagar area of HAL, Bengaluru on Sunday, April 2. Nehemiah was the brother of a serving Army officer, Colonel David Nehemiah.
According to reports, after the brawl, Lloyd and his mother were both admitted to the hospital. His mother was in the intensive care unit as she could not handle the shock.
The HAL police have booked Ram Samanth Rai, Abhishek Singh, and Basudev Samanth Rai under Indian Code Sections 354 (assault or use of criminal force against any woman) and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt).
Lloyd had allegedly objected to the loud music, after which one of the accused, who was drunk, pushed him onto the ground and started beating him. When his sister and neighbours tried to intervene, another accused slapped her and the neighbours also suffered blows, he added.
“The investigation suggested that the three accused, who were in an inebriated state, were talking loudly near Lloyd’s house late at night. Lloyd and his family objected to it and asked them to leave. However, when they refused to, it led to a war of words, and when Lloyd came down to the road, the trio beat him up,” said a police official.
The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with people demanding swift justice for the victim’s family. Tshe police have assured that they will investigate the matter thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice.
