The Big Bash League is one of the most famous cricket leagues in the world. The franchise-based tournament based out of Australia is much more than cricket. Taking place during the Australian summer, this tournament is presented as a package of sports, entertainment, and festivities.
There is a lot of discussion on allowing Indian players in foreign leagues, it would get those tournaments more eyeballs, and help the players improve their game.
Here is the list of Indians who would rock BBL, if they were allowed to play –
-
Surya Kumar Yadav
SKY is perhaps the hottest property in T20 Cricket at the moment. 32-year-old made his debut in 2021, after years of scoring several runs at the domestic circuit. The right-handed batter is currently the number 1 ranked ICC batter in T20 Internationals. The Mumbai batter scores at an average of 44 and a strike rate of 181.
SKY was very impressive in the recently concluded ICC T20I world cup. The bouncy pitches of down under suited Surya Kumar Yadav’s game very well, as the batter was able to score at a brisk rate. He would surely make a very interesting prospect in the Big Bash league.
-
Umran Malik
The speedster from Jammu is an interesting prospect in Indian Cricket. Malik’s journey has been quite interesting as he was fast-tracked into the national team after an impressive IPL.
Umran Malik has the rare ability of bowling over 145 kph, consistently. The bowler has also improved his lines and lengths in the last few years. When fittest, Umran Malik would be one of the scariest bowlers in World Cricket.
-
Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant has become one of India’s best wicket-keeper batsmen in the longest format of the game. The young southpaw is known for his attacking batting and as a lively character. Rishabh Pant has been particularly successful on Australian pitches, in the longest format of the game.
Although there remain several questions about his place in the shortest format of the game, the Delhi batter has proved his mettle in several IPL games. If allowed, Rishabh Pant would set the Australian Summer on fire, in BBL.
-
Ravindra Jadeja
Ravi Jadeja might be one of the most valuable cricketers of the current generation. The left-hander is equally good in all three formats of the game. Ravi Jadeja has been successful in improving his batting in the last few years and added an attacking mode to the same.
Ravi Jadeja’s contribution to the Indian Cricket Team and his franchise Chennai Super Kings is apparent through the success both teams have enjoyed in the last few years. The Australian pitches may not be the go-to options for wickets in the BBL, but he could be an asset as a batting-all-rounder in any squad.
-
Hardik Pandya
The last couple of years has been particularly good for Hardik Pandya. After tasting success in his initial months, Pandya was sidelined from the squad given his health and controversies. However, the rounder made a stunning comeback to the national squad.
All rounder has successfully improved his bowling since his comeback to the national squad. Having won an IPL title, in his first year as a captain, many BBL teams would be interested in making him their potential captaincy candidate.
