The second line extends from Hosahalli to Kadabagere. The DPR for Phase 3 is to be submitted to the central government for approval.
CM Bommai also offered a minor relief to the BMRCL (Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd) by announcing a three-month extension period for the ongoing phase 2A and 2B lines extending from Outer Ring Road to Kempegowda International Airport, which marks March of 2025 as the deadline. The 58-km metro line from Central Silk Board to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) is to be completed by March 2025 as well.
He also mentioned a Rs.55Cr connectivity project between Bengaluru Metro and railway stations at Whitefield, K R Puram, Baiyappanahalli, Yeshvantpur, and Yelahanka.
While speaking to The Hindu, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) Managing Director Anjum Parwez, said, “Around 16.80 km from Koramangala to Hebbal will be underground,” he said It will cover locations such as Bellandur, Agara, St John’s Hospital, NIMHANS, Central College, Cunningham Road, Mekhri Circle, and others.’
He also commented on the status of ongoing Namma Metro projects from phase 2A and phase 2B “BMRCL is contemplating opening a stretch on the Yellow line from Bommasandra to the Central Silk Board by the next financial year. For this, a depot near Electronic City will be made operational… The R.V. Road to Central Silk Board stretch, which is part of Yellow Line, will be opened at a later stage as the metro-cum-rail flyover work will take more time to complete,” Mr.Parwez said.
According to the budget, by the next financial year, 33 km of under-construction metro line will be operationalized. Baiyappanahalli–Whitefield on the Purple line and Nagasandra to Madavara on Tumakuru Road are also marked to be made operational during the same period.
