Two people have been arrested for two separate instances of smuggling gold in Bengaluru by the Air Intelligence Unit, at the Kempegowda International Airport.
According to a report by Deccan Herald, a woman had wrapped two cut gold bars which weighed 502.43 grams. The total value of the gold she carried was Rs. 43,65,291, as she also carried a 197.57-gram crude gold chain.
The report states that the woman, who is a resident of Bengaluru, travelled from Bangkok on the Thai AirAsia flight FD 137 on May 21. Following her entry into the city, the Air Intelligence Unit travelled and found the smuggled gold.
While this case was registered on May 21, another individual was booked for carrying 500 grams of a gold bangle. Both individuals had travelled from Bangkok to Bengaluru.
