The Karnataka government has allocated a budget of Rs 100 crore in the 2024-2025 State Budget to develop tourism in the birthplace of Lord Hanuman, Anjanadri hill, and its surrounding areas in Koppal district.

The allocated budget aims to boost tourism in Anjanadri hill, a place steeped in both mythological and historical importance. This funding is expected to contribute to the preservation and development of key areas in Koppal district, creating an inviting atmosphere for tourists and pilgrims.
The Karnataka government also announced plans to revise the Tourism Policy for 2024-2029, emphasizing the need to attract more tourists and investors. This strategic move aligns with the state’s goal to fully utilize its tourism potential. Additionally, a Sri Renuka Yellamma Tourism Development Board has been constituted to conserve and develop areas surrounding the Srikshetra Renuka Yellamma Temple.

The state is considering introducing water metro services in Gurupur and Nethravathi rivers of Mangaluru. Adventure tourism will receive a boost with the development of cable car or ropeway facilities in ten major tourist spots through public-private partnerships. Water sports and adventure tourism will be developed in the backwaters of major reservoirs and coastal areas.
Aiming to preserve heritage, the Karnataka government has earmarked Rs 15 crore to revive the ancient water supply system known as ‘karez’ in Bidar and Vijayapur districts. The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) will construct a well-furnished hotel in Eihole of Bagalakot district. Additionally, tourist infrastructure facilities will be developed in the Roerich and Devikarani Estate area.
